About the event

Representing Jill’s Farm Animal Rescue, Henrietta, gives a voice to all farm animals. She asks that all animals be treated with kindness and compassion. As our spokesperson, she wants to spread awareness of our new sanctuary on Maury Island. Jill’s Farm offers sanctuary to farm animals that no longer have homes are abused or neglected. Jill’s Farm will be providing educational programs to introduce children to farm animals. The Farm also supports legislation to improve legal protections for animals.

Henrietta and her many other old lady hens get to live out their lives, free ranging, in a safe environment. They still lay eggs, just whenever they want to. Every Spring, Jill’s Farm accepts old hens when farmers wish to replenish their egg-laying flocks, but don’t wish to kill their existing hens. Some even come back to visit their former hens.

NightShade was with a goat dairy, but didn’t produce enough milk. She was relinquished to the Farm. She’s now living out the rest of her life with our small herd of goats with no obligation to produce milk. The goats have a play structure, car wash rollers to scratch on and get to go one underbrush eating excursions.

Dove and Hippo, miniature Cheviot sheep, had to be rehomed when their owners were relocated out of the country. Before being able to join the other sheep, they first had to be treated for severe hoof rot exacerbated by vitamin deficiencies. Once healthy again, however, they now enjoy the good life in an open pasture.

Jill’s Farm began when the founder, Jill Johnson, became aware of the cruelty animals suffer within our food system. She made it her mission to rescue farm animals, to educate the public by exposing them to these wonderful creatures and to advocate for better legal protections.

Please help our mission by voting for Henrietta for Mayor! Each dollar is one vote. Vote generously and help Henrietta be a voice for the voiceless!
